My latest hike, Mt. Binacayan and Mt. Pamitinan, is again, a beginner-friendly hike. Unlike Mt. Ulap, where I only joined a day hike tour with a friend, we tried DIY since most of my friends are from Marikina or near the area.
I prefer do-it-yourself adventures more than joining tours. We were able to spend time together more, without thinking of the time. We were able to do the things we want to do, since we know each other, and we are very close. Also, most of the time, DIY travels are cheaper.
We arrived at the registration hall at around 7 am. We started trekking at around 7:30 am and descended before noon. We ate our lunch and started to hike the second mountain, Pamitinan at around 1 pm. It’s rocky a trail, so I really recommend that you buy your own gloves. You can buy there for 35 to 50 pesos per pair.
You can also finish a day hike trilogy (Mt. Pamitinan-Hapong Banoi-Binacayan). I heard it’s doable even for beginners, but I recommend twin day hike if it’s your first time hiking.
